Background
Having started in the machine tool trade at a very young age I found it intreging to be able to turn a rusty chunk of steel into a useable object. I was always amased by machine's of any sort. When I was only 5or6 years old my Dad took me on a tour of one of the steel mills in the flat's in Cleveland Ohio where i was born and grew up. It was a real experance to see them pouring molten steel into ingets to be rolled out later in the huge rolling macines  He took me many plants in the area back before osha stepped in and for safety reasons is not allowed any more. When I started jr high they had wood working and metal shop and several drafting courses  so of course i signed up for them all. But my love for making things in steel just stuck with me and as the years progressed so did I. In high school we had auto shop ,welding ,machine shop ,forgeing and eletronics
While I was still in Jr High a schoolmate of mine's father owed a small shop on the east side of town when he found out I was taking all the shop classes he offered me a job in the summers where I learned from some really great and knowledgable fellow's. I ran W&S Turret lathes, duplex mills engine lathes ,Pines tube benders, several differnt types of mills ,punch presses and how to sharpen lathe tools and drill bit's. I was so thrilled that i thought being payed was a real bonus. I also learned to drive fork lifts and the real way to weld.                                                                                                                                                      When I graduated High School I went to work for National Acme in Cleveland. After serving my apprenticeship I decided that I wanted to learn more so I started to work in a few of the many smaller shops in the area where i was able to work with some of the old timers and could get a much better taste of many more machines. I was even tought how to program the old N.C. machines of the day way before CNC's and canned cycles. How easy they have it today no more long tapes or trig to figure out every move. I eventualy learned how to build stamping dies and forming dies and mold making and how injection molding worked. I have to say that working closely with the engineers was the most fun they would come up with some real great stuff and it was such a pleasure to be able to make that paper of there's come to life with my abilitys with the machines. It is the greatest feeling to have them come to you in person and tell you that you did really great work and for them to search you out to do more work for them. It also made the owner of the company real happy too because he knew they would be back.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Much of the work I did was for companys such as G.E.,General Dynamic's, Ford Motors, General Motors,Gould, Parker -Hannifin ,Black & Decker, many of the eletronics industry and even some fixtures for Redstone Arsenal for there Hellfire Missle system's.                                                                                  I havent been a ham radio operator for long but found the hobby very much to my liking and that I had many ideas for things that could be very useful to other hams many of them comeing from fellow hams,Thanks so much guy's for your ideas and input.
